A guide to combine images, text, and call-to-action buttons in your slideshow section

This article will show you how to customize a slideshow for your store.

What is a slideshow?

A slideshow is a quick and interactive way to showcase content and information on your site. Slideshow lets you display your most popular products/collections or shout out about what's new with a call-to-action button.

How to customize a slideshow?

Steps

1. In the theme editor (Customize), click Add section

2. Locate Slideshow

3. Make necessary changes

4. Save.

Section settings

1. Auto-rotate slide

Enable Auto-rotate slides so the slideshow will run automatically. The duration time to change slides is between 2-10 seconds.

If you do not want to use rotation, they can disable it and use pagination or navigation.

2. General

You can change the container types, and adjust the slide height with one of these options below:

Note: When choosing "Adapt to first slide image", the slideshow's height will follow the image ratio of the first slide. It will not be cropped.

3. Mobile layout and Accessibility

You can enable/disable showing the content below images and change text alignment on mobile.

The section also lets you fill in the slideshow description for customers using screen readers.

Block settings

Since theme blocks have their own settings, you need to click each block to modify it. It features options to fine-tune the text, image, and call-to-action components.

Steps

1. In Slideshow section, click Add Image slide.

2. Make necessary changes.

3. Save.

1. Background settings

You are able to add an image for both desktop and mobile versions.

The recommended size is 1920x900px for desktop and 600x480px for mobile.

2. Video settings

You can also add a video for the slideshow. This video will show on both desktop and mobile.

3. Content settings

Add the slide’s heading, subheading, and description, then select the content color and position.

You can enable the option Show container on desktop to display content container. The container changes accordingly to the Page content width you set in Theme settings > Layout.

4. Button settings

Display call-to-action buttons to redirect customers to your desired pages or collections. Add a Label and Link for one or both, then choose a Button style and adjust the Button size. One block can have two buttons, namely, First button and Second button.
